New content

Unique jewels

Womb of Corruption

New
  • Added Womb of Corruption: grants a random keystone and one random 10–20% less penalty to damage, defences, maximum health, maximum eitr, movement speed or maximum stamina; drops from mist kills.

Runes

Rune of Change

New
  • Added the Rune of Change: rerolls a magic item’s 1–2 affixes into a fresh random set of 1–2 affixes under the usual item rules. The base, magic rarity, implicits and sockets are preserved. Crafted from a blank runestone and 25 Azurite Dust; also found as loot.

Skill tree

Thorns

Barbed Carapace

Balance
  • Barbed Carapace base cooldown increased from 0.75 to 1 second per enemy.

Jewels

Trail of the First Antler

Balance
  • Only newly generated jewels use halved ranges in the affix tables. Existing jewels retain their saved property bonuses.
  • New jewels have a limit of 2 per tree. Legacy jewels keep their previous limit of 5 and all their bonuses, including after removal and reinsertion.

Dead Crown Shards

Balance
  • New shards of all four variants share a family limit of 3 per tree. Legacy shards keep their previous unlimited family and all their bonuses, and continue strengthening one another.

Craft tree

Smithing

Whetstones

Changed
  • Whetstones can now repair any damaged equipment with durability, up to the stone’s metal tier.
  • Use them like currency: right-click the stone, then left-click the equipment to repair.

Mining

Ore sight

Balance
  • Ore sight now unlocks deposits according to defeated world bosses: Eikthyr for copper and tin, The Elder for iron, Bonemass for silver and obsidian, Moder for black metal, Yagluth for marble and soft tissue, The Queen for Ashlands deposits, and Fader for northern deposits. Azurite sight is unchanged.

Builder

Careful Builder

New
  • A new Builder mastery prevents your attacks from damaging player-built pieces. Enemy attacks, natural objects and deliberate dismantling retain their normal behavior.

Farming

Mass planting controls

Balance
  • Mass planting is active when a seedling is selected with the mastery: Q/E cycles the centre and four corner anchors, marked by a short green beam. The wheel rotates the bed, Shift+wheel changes spacing, and Shift+Q/E changes rows and columns. Controls appear along the bottom of the screen.

Combat and equipment

Ranged weapons

Bow damage and distance

Balance
  • Bows deal full damage up to 14 m instead of 6 m and reach their minimum damage at 40 m instead of 30 m.

Projectiles

Volley resource cost

Balance
  • Each simultaneous projectile costs the attack’s stamina and eitr cost. Projectiles that cannot be paid for are not fired; ammunition is consumed only for the allowed shots.

World and exploration

Altars of power

Offerings and population

Balance
  • Each offering adds 5% to ambient hostile population limits and spawn frequency in its biome; offerings no longer separately increase loot. Boss and creature health and damage bonuses are unchanged.

Blight mist

Mist follows world progress

Balance
  • Existing and future blight zones follow the biome after the furthest defeated world boss. Their creatures’ strength, combat level and reward level follow the same progression; updating existing creatures preserves their health percentage.

Equipment

Ring properties

Changed
  • New ring rolls have separate jump height and jump distance properties; existing combined rolls remain valid.

Runic Punch

Changed
  • Changes socket count by +1 or −1, within 0–3; a failed attempt can remove the last socket. Extra socket chance improves the +1 chance; divine chance applies to the added socket. Cannot be used with installed sigils.

Divine Punch

Changed
  • Recolours a random number of ordinary sockets, at least one, into divine sockets. Preserves existing special sockets. Cannot be used with installed sigils.

Corrupted Punch

Changed
  • Recolours a random number of ordinary sockets, at least one, into corrupted sockets. Preserves existing special sockets. Cannot be used with installed sigils.

Great Rune of Ascent

Balance
  • The Rune of Ascent is now a Great Rune with a new icon. It still adds one random property to a rare item with a free affix slot. Crafting now requires a blank runestone and 50 Divine Azurite Dust instead of 60 ordinary dust; drop rarity now matches the Great Rune of Awakening.

Interface and usability

Tooltips

Rarity reference

New
  • Rarity names in item tooltips now open a shared explanation of item affix limits and creature star tiers.

Portals

Inscription Gate destination list

New
  • The selected portal name on the Inscription Gate map now opens a scrollable destination list; selecting a portal focuses the map without changing the inscribed link.

Equipment

Belt lantern slot

New
  • The Belt Lantern mastery opens a separate lantern cell in the equipment utility row. Removing the mastery turns off the lantern and keeps the item accessible.

Socket change feedback

New
  • When a punch adds or removes a socket, +1 or −1 floats from the affected socket on the item.

Fixes

Discord

Bug report versions

Fixed
  • Bug reports now offer builds 5.2.0, 5.2.1, 5.3.0 and 5.3.1 released on Discord before the mod platforms. Refreshing from Thunderstore keeps these versions available.

Crafting

Free building

Fixed
  • Building from nearby chests now respects the world’s free building and free crafting modifiers.

Consumable stack bonuses

Fixed
  • Items with different per-item properties no longer merge through dragging, pickup, chest transfers or sorting. Food, mead and potions keep their crafting bonuses; new batches are marked before stacking and no longer change older batches in the bag.

Crafting from chests

Fixed
  • Crafting now pays ingredients from nearby chests even when an inventory replacement hides the vanilla window. The active recipe determines the mastery and chest radius.

Minions

Sacrifice

Fixed
  • Summoning staves can sacrifice a minion with no free eitr; sacrifice costs only the normal cast’s stamina.

Summoned minion health

Fixed
  • Upgrading a summoning staff no longer applies biome and summoner health bonuses twice; the quality bonus now matches the tooltip.

Interface

Armour break terminology

Fixed
  • Removed the old corrosion wording from Russian armour-break modifiers, categories and descriptions.

Tool slot swapping

Fixed
  • Dragging a tool from the backpack onto an occupied tool slot now swaps the two items.

Dungeon map icons

Fixed
  • Bear caves and the Queen’s citadel now use their own map icons instead of the generic dungeon marker.

Blood shield display

Fixed
  • The applied rune shield’s bubble is centred on the character again, and its remaining duration appears in the buff bar until it expires or breaks.

Slash damage terminology

Fixed
  • Russian weapon labels and related reference text consistently call slash damage «Рассекающий».

Epic Loot tooltips

Fixed
  • Fixed item tooltip sizing with the new Epic Loot layout, including recalculation when toggling detailed information.

Tooltip translations

Fixed
  • Completed the Careful Builder tooltip translations and French text for the new runes, sockets and mass planting.

Main tree

Barbed Carapace

Fixed
  • Cooldown recovery now reduces the delay between Barbed Carapace hits on the same enemy.

Spell area

Fixed
  • Spell area bonuses now increase staff projectile explosions and the ground effects those spells create.

Shield bash scaling

Fixed
  • Shield bashes now count as melee attacks and benefit from melee damage bonuses.

Heart of the Fallen Runes

Fixed
  • Removing the Heart of the Fallen Runes restores the original nodes even after reopening the tree window; checking an already-built tree no longer discards their original appearance and properties.

Creatures

Winter Herald phase

Fixed
  • Resistance penetration no longer bypasses the Winter Herald’s protected second phase; damage from defeated Aspects remains unchanged.

Northern creatures and training dummies

Fixed
  • Northern creatures no longer become immortal training dummies with damage readouts merely because they share the dummy’s faction.

Monolith boss equipment

Fixed
  • Registered the custom weapons used by Rungard and Morgrim so equipping their attacks can resolve the item prefab, including on dedicated servers.

Northern village apparitions

Fixed
  • Atmospheric ShadowPerson apparitions no longer receive stars or combat modifiers. Existing apparitions have these bonuses removed; northern combat creatures are unaffected.

Mist Mother blood runes

Fixed
  • The Mist Mother altar accepts up to five Blood Challenge runes, shows their count, allows taking them back before summoning, and grants the summoned boss one star per rune.

Items

Alternate-attack properties

Fixed
  • Weapons without their own alternate attack no longer roll properties that require one, including the Staff of Fracturing.

Weapon speed properties

Fixed
  • New attack and cast speed rolls on weapons are local to that weapon; legacy global rolls remain global. Unconditional local attack speed properties no longer roll together. Global attack speed is available on rings.

World

Winding Tunnels awakening

Fixed
  • Dungeon awakening restores destroyed trash piles selected by the room’s original random seed, without rerolling extra piles or duplicating surviving ones.

Great Rune of Awakening

Fixed
  • Dungeon reawakening uses indexed objects and spreads refilling chests, resetting spawners and restoring destroyed objects over multiple frames. Repeated activation during the same reset consumes no additional rune.

Crafting tree

Hugin’s Flight

Fixed
  • Building previews stay visible while Hugin flies away from the body; targets beyond building range or outside the required workbench area are shown as invalid in red.

Inscription Gate

Fixed
  • Changing an Inscription Gate link no longer lets delayed owner updates restore the previous destination; return links update without waiting for the next periodic check.

Mass planting snapping

Fixed
  • The selected bed anchor now snaps to nearby plantings and building snap points, aligning the rows with them. Existing planting grids keep priority.

Compatibility

SeneaL chest radius

Fixed
  • SeneaL UI can read the crafting chest radius again without an ambiguous method lookup.

Legacy items

Fixed
  • Loading and reading existing items preserve saved affix values, scopes, conditions and jewel limits. Old projectile counts are not capped by current tables; archived affix revisions supply the original conditions and ranges. Saved uniques are no longer automatically completed, rerolled or corrupted.

Server configuration

Ranged weapons

Bow falloff settings

New
  • New bow.falloff.start and bow.falloff.end settings control bows separately; ranged.falloff.start and ranged.falloff.end retain the crossbow distances.

Controls

Legacy mass planting settings

Balance
  • The legacy mass-planting hold key and centring toggles are no longer used; select the planting anchor with Q/E. Width and length settings remain available.
