Summoning

Summoning staves

New
  • Two starter staves at the workbench, Bone Call and Grave Call, summon skeleton thralls that fight with their fists.
  • Three more staves up to the Plains: Barrow Call (Swamp), Frostbone Call (Mountains) and Warbone Call (Plains). Their skeletons carry swords, a mace and shields.
  • Vanilla summoning staves (Dead Raiser, roots, troll, spirit caller) also hold eitr instead of spending it, and their summons live for a limited time.
  • Vanilla summoning staves no longer depend on Blood Magic: the skill sets neither the number of summons nor their level or damage. Only free eitr limits them.
  • The stronger the staff, the longer its summons live: Staff of the Wild 45 s, Trollstav 50 s, Spirit Caller 60 s (Dead Raiser 40 s, the mod's staves 15–35 s).
  • New world setting "Vanilla summoning staves" gives them back their fully vanilla mechanics.
  • A living thrall reserves eitr: more eitr, more thralls. Thralls are short-lived and wither away; effect duration extends them.
  • Limit now calls more minions per cast, for the mod's staves and vanilla ones: each extra minion holds its own eitr and costs one more cast's stamina. If eitr or stamina runs short, as many are called as you can afford.
  • Summoning staves roll only minion properties: damage, health, duration, resistance, armour, rune shield, speed, crit and aggression.
  • Under the hotbar on the left: a portrait with the thrall count and their health bars.
  • While thralls hold eitr, the eitr bar always stays on screen, and the held part shows as a dark segment at its end. You can turn this off in the interface settings.
  • Summoned creatures, the mod's and vanilla ones, are no longer pets: they can't be petted, fed or renamed, and bonuses to tamed creatures don't apply to them. Minion bonuses do.

Grave Call Ring

New
  • A summoner's bone ring at the runecarver table, made of bone fragments and a skeleton skull. It rolls minion properties instead of damage.

Skill tree

Tree points

Tree points

Changed
  • Progress (bosses, dungeons, rune stones, monoliths) is kept on the character and counts in every world.
  • Nothing is removed when moving to the new storage.

Main Tree

Shield Throw

Changed
  • Shield Throw moves from all Blocking mastery menus into a dedicated Keystone. The node grants Shield Throw without additional penalties.

Phantom Strikes

Changed
  • Phantom Strikes deal 24% of the triggering hit’s damage (was 15%).
  • Phantom Strikes no longer build up any ailments: their fire, poison and spirit simply deal damage, with no burning or poison.
  • A Phantom Strike builds up half the stagger of the triggering hit.
  • A Phantom Strike rolls its own critical strike: the triggering hit’s critical chance and damage plus bonuses for phantom strikes. The triggering hit’s critical strike no longer carries over.
  • New look: a translucent blue-green ghost of your weapon appears above the target and comes down on it with the blow; bare-handed, a ghostly fist strikes.
  • Removed the large smoke from Phantom Strikes that blocked the view when they triggered often.

Shotgun

Changed
  • Shotgun is a keystone again: projectiles of one volley can hit the same enemy, projectile damage ×0.5. The Shotgun mastery choice is removed and its point refunded.
  • Shotgun moves from Projectile mastery into an outer-ring Intelligence Keystone.

Deathless Host

New
  • New keystone: your minions have no lifetime. They no longer wither and live until they are killed.
  • −20% minion eitr reservation efficiency.

Jagged Breach

Changed
  • Now converts 22.5% of blunt damage to slashing against enemies with broken armour.

Minions

New
  • Added minion eitr reservation efficiency branches: 4% per Small and 12% per Notable.
  • Added a minion resistance branch: 3% per Small and 7.5% per Notable.
  • Added minion critical strike chance and critical multiplier branches.
  • Added a minion damage and attack speed cluster.

Nodes are prepared in the NewTry draft. Gameplay support for the new minion modifiers requires separate implementation.

Levitation

Changed
  • The −30% movement speed penalty now applies only while airborne, not all the time.

Craft tree

Rune Carver

Inscription Gate

Changed
  • A named Inscription Gate pairs both ways with an ordinary portal of the same name, like vanilla portals. An inscribed link comes first.

Combat and equipment

Stagger

Stagger threshold and rune shield

Changed
  • Maximum rune shield counts toward the stagger threshold like maximum health.

Throwing

Weapon throw cost

Balance
  • A weapon throw is an alternate attack: it costs at least two ordinary attacks of that weapon, and only alternate-attack cost reductions apply.
  • A battleaxe under Heavy Grip is no longer thrown for half an ordinary attack.
  • Shield Throw also counts as an alternate attack: ordinary-attack cost reductions no longer apply to it.

Thrown weapons in flight

Changed
  • A thrown axe or club flies end over end like a wheel, with the same trail as a thrown shield.
  • Knife, axe, club and shield throws sound like a spear throw.

Sigils

Sigil of the Misty Hive

New
  • In a cape: while you are airborne, a rain cloud of 3 m hangs beneath you; it grows with area of effect.
  • Everything under it gets wet as in rain: creatures and players are Wet, campfires burn low, fire on the ground goes out.

Staves

Staff durability and damage

Balance
  • The mod's staves have 200 durability (+50 per quality), like the game's staves - was 80.
  • Spark Staff hits harder: 8 fire and 6 blunt (was 6 and 5); Kindling Staff 7 and 6 (was 5 and 5).

Shields become rune shield

Changed
  • Everything that gave the vanilla shield (Staff of Protection, Blood Seal and others) now gives rune shield - to players, minions and tamed creatures - with the same amount and duration.

Experience

Experience from allies' kills

New
  • A foe killed by a companion, minion or pet gives experience to players nearby, like a group kill: the reward is split among everyone within the shared experience radius.

World and exploration

Blight Mist

Mist boss summon

Balance
  • The boss needs 35% fewer creatures slain in the mist to be summoned; this also applies to mists already open.

Nests and regrowth

Dragon eggs come back

New
  • A dragon egg nest grows its egg back after 16 in-game days; regrowth speed from the tree does not shorten it.
  • Aim at an empty nest or a picked bush to see when it grows back.

Interface and usability

Chests and loot

Chest radius at a workbench

New
  • Shift + wheel while looking at a workbench sets the radius of the chests and carts it crafts and builds from, as with smelters.
  • New world settings: build-from-chests reach at a workbench and without one.

Loot filter switch

New
  • A checkbox at the top of the loot filter turns it off entirely; the groups are kept and work again when it is back on.

Item tooltips

Weapon numbers

Changed
  • Local weapon properties change its base numbers; every global bonus (its own, the tree's, other gear's, the attribute's) is shown next to them as a coloured number.
  • Unworn weapons are shown as if worn: two bows with different properties no longer show the same numbers.

Appearance

Look names in the appearance window

New
  • The appearance window shows the item name above the grid of looks: the one under the cursor, else the picked one, else the one worn.

Fixes

Performance

Long freezes

Fixed
  • The mod no longer starts timing all of its hooks by itself: it froze the game for 10-30 seconds.

Micro-stutters

Fixed
  • Monolith and Oath Witness checks no longer walk the whole world in one frame: the hitch every few seconds that grew with the explored world is gone.
  • Creatures no longer scan every dropped item each frame looking for bait; less memory garbage from buildings, furnaces, rare creature names, trinket effects and the map.

Loot and crafting

Salvage

Fixed
  • An item no longer salvages into itself, even when another mod adds a recipe that uses it.

Portal crate

Fixed
  • A portal crate is used up when the portal is set up: it can no longer build portals again and again.

Loot filter

Fixed
  • «Disable drop» of the ignored group also applies to rune monolith loot.

Bars and seeds

Fixed
  • Flametal bars get the crafting tree's stack size bonus like the other bars.
  • Ashlands vineberry cuttings give the game's own seeds; the mod's vineberry seeds turn into them.
  • Uncooked pies no longer show stray food numbers in their tooltip.

Combat

Sow by Impact

Fixed
  • Sow by Impact grows spores only in combat: mining and chopping no longer sow them.

Sceptres

Fixed
  • A sceptre's Smite gets spell damage bonuses, as its description says; the swing itself is melee.
  • Weapon tooltips show damage with the attribute skill multiplier: the total grows with Strength and sits inside its range.

Shield Charge

Fixed
  • A point-blank ram no longer counts as a parry: Ready Answer and "on parry" rows don't fire on it.

Bows

Fixed
  • "+N arrows per bow shot" on a worn bow adds arrows on top of the tree's.

Reverse Impulse

Fixed
  • Reverse Impulse pulls an enemy to the source of the push and stops it there instead of throwing it past.

Ground danger indicators

Fixed
  • The poison cloud's circle follows its creature smoothly instead of jumping in steps.

Summoning staves

Fixed
  • Dead Raiser and the troll staff no longer count as projectiles; roots still do.

Shields on minions

Fixed
  • The Staff of Protection's shield and Blood Seal no longer hurt minions: they get it as a rune shield.

Heals and flat damage

Fixed
  • Flat damage bonuses and oils no longer turn heals on allies and pets into hits.

Lightning oil

Fixed
  • The oil glow no longer swells into a bubble around large weapon models.

Combo and sceptres

Fixed
  • A sceptre swing builds the Combo, and its smite is a spell that ends it.

Hunter's Risk

Fixed
  • The penalty text is clearer: crits lose their damage bonus and the multiplier stays at 150%. The node influence panel shows the crit multiplier in percent.

Slam ridge

Fixed
  • The Raise the Earth ridge grows out of the ground and sinks back instead of popping in and out.

Heavy Grip

Fixed
  • Refunding Heavy Grip now takes the shield or torch off next to a two-handed weapon: it no longer stays held in one hand.

Skill tree

Eye Between Worlds

Fixed
  • The Eye's rune link is drawn only between open portals.

Jewels

Fixed
  • A jewel disenchanted with Alt + right click no longer stays on the tree cursor.
  • Nodes recoloured or revealed by one character's jewels no longer stay that way for another character.

Node damage panel

Fixed
  • The panel of what a node changes in weapons shows each weapon's total with the same number as its tooltip.

Trees

Phantom Strikes

Fixed
  • Nodes with critical chance and damage for phantom strikes (Unseen Executioner, Second Shadow, Rending Apparition and the small nodes near them) now work.
  • Nodes with stagger build-up for phantom strikes (Weightless Hammer and the small nodes near it) now work.

Crafting

Mastery buildings

Fixed
  • The Vacuum Chest and the Inscription Gate are no longer announced without their mastery: the message comes when the mastery is taken.

Ashlands vines

Fixed
  • Crop growth speed now also speeds up planted vines: new shoots and berry ripening. The planter's nodes count.
  • Old mod vineberry seeds picked up from the ground turn into the game's own seeds right away.

Interface

Item tooltips

Fixed
  • An item's tooltip no longer covers its own cell or stops it from being taken or dragged.

Keystone Icons

Fixed
  • The editor no longer labels individual node artwork as old merely because it differs from the shared theme icon.

Main Tree

Whisper of Stars

Fixed
  • Corrected the eitr regeneration branch theme and icons to Eitr instead of Night. All affixes are retained.
